What does heavy metal and vaping have in common? The obvious answer would be they're both fun of course, but I decided to give you another reason: strong, hard-rocking lettering! The newest Vapeorama design -called Just Vape- is inspired by Judas Priest, the Metal Gods themselves. In case you need something to refresh your memory about the greatness of the band, here's The Rage (my favorite Judas Priest song, from their British Steel album). Click to play, listen to that bass riff and read on, OK?
Their logo was a part of my youth. It was something to be seen written in walls, jackets, school bags and t-shirts -not to mention LP and, later, CD covers. During the '90s the band was somehow forgotten but they re-emerged through the power of their tours, a Grammy and the inclusion of their songs in influential video games.
The vaping community had already embraced the PG/VG design (inspired by another old-school band) and I had the feeling that I'm not the only one who gets excited by this pairing of music and vaping! So, I got down to work. The red lettering is designed from scratch, not based on any font. There is some slight beveling, embossing and lighting effects and the background is made to look a bit like carbon fibre.
This is a design with a straightforward call to action: Just Vape! We've entered an era when ecig use starts facing regulations, bans and/or over-taxation. We, the vapers, know the pleasure we get from our personal vaporizers as well as the beneficial health effects from leaving smoking behind -but it's not enough. It's time to stay focused and well-informed, to educate ourselves and others around us, to appreciate what we've found and vape.
Have a look at the Just Vape line of gifts and comment if you like what you see. Plus, tell me if you'd like more designs based on music or pop culture lettering and ideas. I'm in for it, how about you?
